OEs Win Under 13 Worcestershire County Final
OE's won the toss and elected to bat but soon found themselves in trouble against an accurate Worcester Nomads opening attack. After 8 overs they were 28 for 3 and McPherson and Bartlett needed to consolidate the innings which they did with sound defence mixed in with some positive shots. When McPherson (12) was out Young joined Bartlett and the tempo of the innings improved. Bartlett reached his 30 with six fours and Hills (7) came to the wicket in a crucial 39 run partnership in only 30 balls. Young reached 32 off the last ball of the innings with the score on 115 for 4, a great effort.
This was a challenging target for Nomads who got off to a solid start with 13 on the board off the first 3 overs. The game swung dramatically OE's way in the fourth over bowled by all rounder Young. His off spin accounted for 3 wickets including the dangerous Pinder-Hamilton. Nomads never recovered from this over and a determined OE's side forced home the advantage to bowl out Nomads for 31 off 15 overs to give them a great win by 84 runs. Good bowling by Taylor 1/14, Young 3/5, Colburn 3/4, Bartlett 1/6 & Donaldson 1/2 supported by aggressive fielding made it the perfect display by OE's .
Captain Jack Taylor collected the Trophy and rounded off an excellent season for the U13's, a real team effort.
BISHOPS TROPHY COUNTY UNDER 11'S FINAL 9th August 2009
An entertaining final between OE's U11's and Ombersley was held at Worcestershire's New Road ground.
Ombersley batted first and made steady progress but they were being put under pressure by some very good fielding by the OE's team. Josh Nott taking a sharp stumping off Amar Jawanda summed up the high standard. Harry McDonald hit some lusty shots in the last few overs of the innings but OE's showed great maturity and held their nerve and hit back with two vital wickets in the last over to restrict Ombersley to 254 for 6.
In reply, OE's openers Josh Nott and Robin French gave them a great start taking the score to 224. Sensible batting mixed with some fine stroke play saw OE's go into the last two overs needing nine to win but knowing losing a wicket would increase that target. Jake Ham and skipper Alex Campbell-Shore played with great maturity and guided OE's home to victory to claim the U11's county title winning by three runs.

U13's v Nomads 29th May 2009
A national knock out semi-final was an important encounter for the boys at Bransford. On a beautiful early summer's evening, OE's elected to bat on winning the toss. This turned out to be against high class opening bowlers, in particular County player J Pinder-Hampton and after 8 overs OE's only had eight runs on the board for the loss of three wickets. A fight back led by Callum Young (33 retired, not out) and Daniel Goodyear (17) enabled OE's to score 79 with the loss of 5 wickets off their 20 overs.
In reply, Nomads got off to a flying start and after the opening 5 overs had 37 on the board. Tighter slow bowling from Salter (1-20) and Bartlett (2-21) pulled Nomads back but they still ran out comfortable winners by 6 wickets scoring 76 for 3.
Although this was a disappointing result in a national competition, the club have high hopes of greater success next season with 7 of the 11 who played against Nomads eligible to play as U13's in 2010.
